Pixelated Realities

Digitising cultural heritage

and making it accessible worldwide

We document, research and reinterpret cultural heritage using 3D scanning, photogrammetry, digital modelling, XR technologies and digital fabrication. We create accurate digital copies of objects that preserve memory, open up new possibilities for research and bring Ukrainian culture closer to people in countries around the world.

Preserving heritage in the digital dimension

Pixelated Realities PO, founded in 2016 in Odesa, Ukraine, is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the digital preservation of cultural heritage through digitisation and digital fabrication. We specialise in research, cultural projects and education.

We document objects, architectural structures, memorial markers and cultural landscapes using 3D scanning, photogrammetry, digital modelling and digital fabrication.

The accurate digital representations we create help record the condition of objects, preserve the knowledge associated with them for future generations and make heritage accessible for research and to a wide audience. Digital materials can be used in conservation and museum work, education and science, as well as in film, games, immersive experiences and interactive applications.

A digital copy does not replace the original but complements it: it expands the possibilities for the preservation, study, promotion and new readings of cultural heritage.

Our mission

Our mission is to improve the methods of preserving cultural heritage.

What we do

  • We digitise cultural heritage objects, monuments, memorial sites and collections.
  • We create 3D models using photogrammetry, 3D scanning and digital modelling.
  • We carry out research, documentation and digital recording of objects at risk of destruction or loss.
  • We develop digital exhibitions, XR solutions, interactive formats and educational materials.
  • We create educational programmes for museum staff, students, researchers, cultural managers and communities.
  • We run training courses, workshops, lectures and hands-on programmes.
  • We collaborate with museums, communities, scholars, cultural institutions, technology teams and international partners.
  • We promote contemporary practices of digital preservation and open access to cultural heritage.

Our areas of activity

Digitalisation and art

We document cultural heritage using 3D scanning, photogrammetry and digital modelling. We create 3D models, digital collections, interactive products, virtual exhibitions and other formats that help preserve objects, study them and make them accessible to audiences in Ukraine and abroad.

Research and educational programmes

We run practical educational formats in digital fabrication, 3D technologies, game development and digitalisation. We help museum professionals, researchers, cultural practitioners, students and creative teams master contemporary digital tools and apply them in their own projects.

Networking and partnerships

We develop partnerships between Ukrainian and European institutions in the field of cultural heritage preservation. We bring together museums, communities, universities, research centres, technology teams and cultural organisations to work jointly on digital, educational and international projects.

Advocacy and social impact

Advocacy and social impact

Through research and participation in the development of strategic documents, we support policies for the digitalisation and valorisation of cultural heritage at national and European levels. One of our important areas of focus is the decolonisation of historical and cultural myths through the reinterpretation of heritage and through cultural projects.
